Laing House is a peer support organization for youth living with mental illness, where members can embrace their unique gifts and find their way in a caring and supportive environment.
Hans has been a board member for the past eight years, serving as Chairman in his most previous role, he passed the torch in 2013 but remains very involved. Hans was a member of the capital fund raising committee when he first volunteered with Laing House.
As part of the committee, Hans, his wife Diana and four friends embarked on a journey to raise both awareness for youth suffering with mental illness and funds for Laing House by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. They began training in the fall of 2008 to prepare for the climb "Step Up for Laing House" which took place in September of 2009. The climb and fund raising campaign were very successful with a final total of $125,000 being raised.
